English language coach in Barcelona

Reviews

“Before meeting Catrine I had several problems–from pronunciation, lack of proper expressions both coloquial and profesional one, little fluency and not much room for improvisation when speaking. She is quite passionate and energetic but also has technical skills and knowledge, so she balances those areas very well to deliver a highly effective performance. I like her ability to keep people engaged almost all the time, not to be bored or overwhelmed by content and style.
Working with her has it has been very helpful indeed.”

I needed someone professional with whom I could talk about topics and issues related to my professional interests in a comfortable, classy and contemporary way. Catrine has a special magic, she loves languages and she can teach you using her hands and signs, without interrupting you. She is amazing on topics like social media and at finding content related with the needs of the student. With her the hour flies and you want more and more. You learn easily as she focuses on pronunciation and phrases people are using around the world. So, you learn real, everyday English.”

“As a HR Manager, I needed to work and review all dimensions of English in terms of communication (written, oral, reading) and cross-cultural understanding (jargon, slang, etc.). Catrine has been an excellent English teacher because she has been always flexible to my priorities,my specific needs regarding my job and responsibilities. She even gives me recommendations that enrich my understanding of English-speaking culture in work context. She knows how to teach me things I can put into practice right away in my daily work. With Catrine, everything has been so easy. My company is going through an internationalization process to the USA, and I needed help with all the HR stuff, including: preparing meeting with attorneys, preparing speeches with the different players at Business Schools, providers, reviewing internal communication, etc. I have worked with her by online and by telephone as a “help desk”. I think this kind of assistance makes the difference in terms of commitment and empathy on both sides. In my opinion, the better she knows my work, my concerns, the better she can adapt class content to my specific needs.”

“I needed to learn more English, both for personal and professional reasons. She has teaching skills that I have never seen in other teachers, from mnemonic devices to the use of podcasts. You can tell that she loves teaching. She is inspiring. I remember our fascinating conversations on current events. It’s a luxury to be taught by a teacher who reads the New Yorker magazine. You learn so much with her. I live in the United States now, and almost everyday I find myself using idioms and expressions that she taught me. I took about three years of classes with her, which turned out to be a perfect preparation. Learning a language is more than grammar and vocabulary. You could almost say that in order to speak a language well you have to feel it. Catrine gave me a foundation so that I could start feeling English.”

“Like many people of my generation (I’m 40), I’m supposed to have a good level of English (many years studying, First certificate, one year of Advanced…..) but when it’s time to speak………my fluency was terribly bad!!! My English vocabulary was rusty, too. I needed to recover them. She’s a very pragmatic teacher, always focused on your needs and a tireless correcting teacher…..first you talk and then she’ll analyze all your words one by one!! An important point is her understanding of Spanish and Catalan. Another advantage of having Catrine as a teacher is her ability to talk about all kind of topics, she knows a little bit about everything. I always look forward to going to class (I accumulate many questions during the week) and I have fun while I am learning!!”
